Understated, classic, symbolic, and BEAUTIFUL!

Princess Catherine's bouquet was perfect! The bouquet was comprised of white hyacinth, mrytle, 'sweet william' (also known as dianthus) and lily of the valley. All of the flowers are seasonal spring blooms--and super fragrant!

LOVING the GLAM!

I must say that while I am mostly drawn to a neutral palette in my everyday world, when given the chance, I love to experiment with color and a little sparkle.

Case in point--the last Wedding Mafia Cocktail Party which was held at Elements Event Centre. Always a fan of the gorgeous David Austin garden rose--I mixed in some hydrangeas and the entirely under-rated carnation and I think it puts together a pretty fab setting. Now you just need some pink champagne!

Just a few details from a lovely April wedding...

Sometimes simplicity says everything--love the blue, yellow, and cream palette Amanda chose for her flowers. Simple ranuculus, tulips, roses, and hydrangea work so well together for a soft spring look.

The reception took place at the Westin Cincinnati overlooking beautiful Fountain Square. It just so happened that the Annual P&G Flower Carpet on the Square was happening over that weekend. What a view from the reception!

Thank goodness for spring weather...but inevitably it gets me thinking about summer and of course all the loveliness of summer weddings! I wanted to show off one of my favorite bouquets from last summer. Simple, colorful, fresh, and classic--peonies can't be beat! This bouquet is comprised of peonies, roses, cymbidium orchids, and hypericum berries. Beth (the bride) carried it with class and style. Photo is by White Photography.

Wedding Mafia Event

Yellow Canary's first Wedding Mafia Event was Thursday, February 5th at the Cincinnati Marriott North in Mason. The theme of the evening was 'Creating the Perfect Wedding Reception'. It was a great evening and we really enjoyed meeting everyone! Our table was black, white, & yellow chic with a touch of citrus zing. (All the lemons added a little summery zip!). A variety of hydrangea, orchids, and roses helped pull the look together. We also had some fun with a retro candy bar/buffet & favors. It was quite a hit! Thanks to Nicole for all her gracious help!

Winter Wonderful

A wedding fit for a snow princess (or queen!). Allyson was stunningly beautiful and everything came together perfectly. The Ceremony took place at the Norman Chapel at Spring Grove, and the Reception was at the Hilton Netherland Continental Room. It was such a pleasure pulling the vision together. Nicole was open to some interesting elements in the bouquet so a little craspedia (the round brownish pods) sealed the deal! A truly gorgeous wedding all around!

Ann and Mike were married on a very steamy and humid July day in Cincinnati. I think the chic palette of white and blue helped cool everyone off! (At least I will let myself believe that!). The ceremony took place at St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, Kentucky and the reception was held at the Embassy Suites in Blue Ash. Doesn't Ann look amazing?!

I want to thank the wonderful Lowry Photography for so kindly sending me images of Ann and Mike's wedding. They do such a nice job of capturing the details!

Katie was one of the sweetest brides I have worked with! I absolutely love the picture of her with her daughter--great work by Images by Daniel Michael! These pictures were taken at the peaceful Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Cincinnati. You can never go wrong with pink in the summer--bright, fresh, and lovely--and the touch of yellow rounds it out. Being obsessed with travel--and Italy in particular I wanted to share some of my recent photos from an wonderful (if not too short) trip to Rome and the Amalfi Coast. Please let me indulge a little and remember a perfect afternoon in Capri. I loved the color in this minimal place setting--just add some vino and life is perfect! The other thing about Italy is that no matter where you go everyone has beautiful flowers and plants. From a simple balcony, to grand scale gardens. Simple and lovely...more to come...

Christina and Sean at Miami U

Christina and Sean were so sweet! The Miami University alums had their ceremony and reception in Oxford, Ohio at the beautiful Kumler Chapel and Marcum Conference Center on MU's campus. I learned something new as well--apparantly when two people who went to Miami get married they call it a "Miami Merger". The number of mergers is really quite surprising--you have to check it out.

Christina looked radiant in her gorgeous beaded dress. I love the details! Her flowers were romantic and had a slight vintage look with ranuclus, dendrobium orchids, and astilbe. Cheers to the merger and a very adorable couple!

The reception held at the Commonwealth Hilton was an ecelectic mix of natural flowers and moss elements with a funky welcome table as guests entered the ballroom. Sara and Ben wanted to incorporate Ben's Scottish heritage into their lovely April wedding. We decided upon a palette of creams and soft yellows with an occassional brighter yellow to accent. Sara wanted something lush with a freshly picked look so ferns and moss were used to pull it all together. The bouquet wraps were done in the same kilt fabric of the Stewart clan--I loved it! I also love the wonderful images by Lowry Photography.
